Performance Analysis of a Point Absorber Wave energy Converter in Nigerian West Coast; Gulf of Guinea

This paper presents a performance analysis of point absorber wave energy converter (WEC) in the Gulf Guinea along Nigerian West Coast. The study aims to evaluate device's efficiency and power output under different conditions Gulf, including extreme cases. To achieve this, an existing CAD model was reproduced Auto-CAD meshed Ansys Aqua, obtain added mass damping coefficient, it finally imported MATLAB where simulation created using WEC-Sim software. scatter diagram data from region were analyzed, probability occurrence each on calculated ranked, top five fed as input device. results show that is highest at height 2 meters peak period 11 seconds. when device resonates, this occur significant (4m & 15s). However, decreases increases. also confirms suitability for region, showed no abnormal behavior conditions. Further research needed optimizing mooring line design evaluating cost-effectiveness region.
